MCP LAB

MCP LAB

Overview

Marine Conservation Philippines is proud to announce that we are constructing a marine laboratory at Silver Reef Dive Resort, Dauin. Our two-storey building will cover a total of 128 m2 across 2 floors: the ground floor will host a chemistry lab and an aquaria lab, while the second floor will host a dry lab and staff/visiting scientist accommodation. The primary focus of the lab will be to characterise the seasonal and long-term variability of the carbonate chemistry across different reef communities, from low coral cover reefs with high terrestrial influences, to protected reefs with high coral cover, around southern Negros Oriental. This will provide us with improved knowledge on local coral reef metabolism, and further our understanding on how vulnerable our reefs are to ocean acidification.
